Before anyone asks, no, I didn't ask him if his nickname was "Doc." I wouldn't be surprised if kids these days had absolutely no clue what Back to the Future is...makes me feel old.
At any rate, Santa Ana (San Marcos) Calif. quarterback Emmett Brown was on campus over Father's Day weekend for an unofficial visit.
Danny Langsdorf and Colorado were his first offer, which came last November.
While the Buffaloes hold a verbal pledge from 2022 quarterback Owen McCown, Langsdorf has continued to recruit Brown.
While the two have gotten to know each other well enough since last fall, meeting in-person solidified their relationship.
"He’s been a really good coach to talk to about anything and our relationship definitely grew a lot more meeting in-person," Brown said. "We talked some ball a little bit, which was fun, and went over some film. We got to see a little bit of the coaching side of his aspect and we got to see a bit more of the personality side when J.T. Shrout was hanging out with us. Seeing him and J.T.'s interactions was pretty cool to see. It’s different when you’re an actual player vs. a recruit so it was cool to see them joking around and laughing."
Meeting Shrout turned out to be a highlight of Brown's time in Boulder. Observing the player-coach relationship between he and Langsdorf added further context to what it'd look like were he to choose Colorado.
Getting to meet Karl Dorrell rang a similar bell on that note.
“Something I caught on from talking with coach Dorrell, that these guys are real people," Brown said. "They’re not out there to sell you on anything or give you all this nonsense. To me, they seemed like very genuine people and it was really awesome to see that interaction between J.T. and coach Langsdorf. It was a little back-and-forth, they weren't going deep into conversation, but it really showed that these are genuine people. Talking to J.T. gave me a lot of insight.”
Brown and Langsdorf also have been able to have multiple in-depth conversations about the quarterback position and what Brown does well.
“Coach Langsdorf has a way with his words in describing things," Brown said. "He really likes how I move around in the pocket and extend plays, get funky with some arm angles and being able to make quick decisions and get the ball in the right guy’s hands. I was trying to show that when I was there (in Boulder), that I can do the same things I do on film. He really liked how I spun it and how I handle myself.”
Brown currently has taken other unofficial visits to California, New Mexico and San Jose State.
As he continues to navigate towards decision day, he's keeping Colorado in mind, with Langsdorf appearing to feel the same towards him.

Whether Colorado will take another QB in 2022 remains to be seen. Can't say there's been overwhelming evidence of Langsdorf offering a bunch of guys but Brown is a player he did offer a long time ago and appears to have stayed in contact with. Short offer list, sure, but I suppose Langsdorf likes what he sees.
