Ross Dellinger on CBA

Interesting interview today. Talked about tbe proposal to cap total roster size at 85 which would eliminate walk ons. The other side of it is that all sports would have roster caps but also have 100 percent scholarships for all players. Thats a big deal.

Target is 22 percent of AD budgets go to player salaries on top of scholarships. Not football. All sports.

Seems to be main proposal they are negotiating. Goal is by end of the month to have this done with a timeline for implementation which seems tight but they want things going by July 1.

So much to discuss here:
1. Do walk ons go down to G5 and try to earn their way up
2. What will be the length of player contracts - 2 yrs, 3 yrs, some maybe even 4
3. What does this mean for the other sports? Upside everyone gets 100 percent scholarships. Downside rosters will be trimmed

Salaries plus scholarships money looks like 45-50 percent of budgets. Is this enough to satisfy players and agents? When they unionize will the push for more?

This thing is happening fast like most thought it would. I would get set, as has been previously stated by those around the game, for another big round of realignment sooner rather than later.

To me this timeline seems really optimistic but I do get why they feel they have to do it given lawsuits and settlements and also the already about to happen realignment in July. I’m skeptical it happens by then but think it definitely happens after this year if not.

This is what I like most now in CFB besides the actual games. Its sad but the business of football is so much more interesting than recruiting now

Non-CU schedule announcements thread

NFL - will announce next week the 15th.

Last year the Power conferences announced their early season/special game TV networks and times:
ACC: May 31st (Wed)
Big Ten: May 31st (Wed)
Big 12: May 31st (Wed)
SEC: May 31st (Wed)

Will add the Mountain West since CU plays on the MWC TV package when they play CSU, that date was also May 31st

So I expect that they will announce on the 29th. There might be a some leaks earlier in the week. Also if the Big Ten and the MWC announce before the Big 12 we might get those two games times and networks first.

Weeks 0 thru 3
Thursday and Friday games
Games Thanksgiving weekend
Sometimes with the Big Ten homecoming games times.

C-USA, WAC, WCC and Southland membership news

I know that we of course concentrate on Power 4 news but these things caught my eye:
Missouri State is joining Delaware as programs moving up to D1A and joining C-USA in 2025, This will give them 12 football playing members. Delaware will be coming to Boulder in 2025. Of the 12 members in 2025 of CUSA: Delaware, Missouri State, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State and Sam Houston would have been members in D1AA in the 2023 season.

On the D1AA/Basketball only conferences:

WCC is adding Grand Canyon and Seattle in 2025. Both fit the conference profile as a religious private schools. The WCC will though be the home of the non-football sports of Oregon State and Washington State for two years. They are not expected to remain in the conference in 2026. Seattle should not be a threat to Gonzaga's dominance in the conference, but GCU could be.

Seattle and GCU were members of the WAC. They do not have football and the WAC does not sponsor it. The football playing members of the WAC play football in a football only conference with teams from the ASUN called the United Athletic conference. The WAC will have 8 members in the conference when Seattle and GCU leave as Texas-Rio Grande Valley is moving to the Southland conference this year. UTRGV will be starting a football program in 2025.

KJ balling out at the at the Pre Draft Combine

Has been the best player on the court. 11 points in 11m. He is just blowing by people, like we saw all year. The analysts (Shawn Farnum, Bobby Marks and Coury Alexander really like him. Farnum loves him. Gave a shout-out to Harvard Westlake B-ball coach Dave Rebido. Their question is when you are small, you have to be elite at something, and, what is he elite at?
Can he sneak into the first round? Note: he said he shot 3 after 3 after the season with his girlfriend rebounding for him.

CU Spring 2024 Transfer Tracker

The spring transfer portal window is open and will remain so for 15 days allowing non-graduate transfers an opportunity to enter their name into consideration for a transfer. After April 30, any non-graduate transfer will not again be permitted to enter the transfer portal until after the season.

As has been expected, Colorado is again active with roster turnover as several players have already entered their names into the portal. The Buffs are expected to be heavily involved in adding players from the portal once again, and we will keep track of both in this thread as the next several weeks play out.

If you ever need to look at the big picture, @Nikkieds has continued to update the overall offseason transfer thread pinned to the top. So make sure you're still checking that out as well for more updates.
