Defensive Player of the Year: Utah’s Leki Fotu. No obvious pick here. Stanford cornerback Paulson Adebo is arguably the conference’s top defensive talent, but the award typically goes to linemen or linebackers. Fotu will be the immoveable force in the middle of a dominant defense.
Coach of the Year: Utah’s Kyle Whittingham. If the Utes dominate the South — they have the best lineup, by a significant margin — Whittingham should be named COY for his work in 2019 and as a lifetime achievement award. He has never been COY.
