In today's NewsStand there is an interesting article on where Pac-12 recruits come from. The analysis is the states that recruits are from for all current Pac-12 coaches at their current school.

The breakdown, in summary by state with ten or more recruits, looks like this:
California: 436
Texas: 70
Arizona: 60
Utah: 47 (somewhat inflated because Whittingham has been there much longer than other coaches and recruited locally)
Florida: 43
Washington: 43
Louisiana: 28
Colorado: 21
Georgia: 20
Hawaii: 18
Oregon: 17
Nevada: 10
Nobody will be surprised by the overwhelming number from California, or the strong showing of Arizona. Texas, as #2, shows that it isn't only CU that sees that as fertile recruiting area.
One of the bigger surprises is Florida, with more than double the Pac-12 recruits than Colorado or Hawaii or Oregon. Also, the showing of Oregon and Hawaii looks pretty weak for Pac-12 selections by coaches, a good deal less than the talent pools tapped from distant Louisiana and Georgia.
