Let’s say it’s an employed coach. I’m curious where everyone stands on the appropriate timing for a guy to announce he is leaving and to actually leave? Not from a CU perspective but from the perspective of his current kids he is responsible for.
I’m always torn on this. Usually when a person accepts another job they should be shown to the door that day. If they announce retirement they should be kept only long enough to have the new person onboarded.
I feel with people who coach kids it’s different. They are counting on a coach to be there and get them through. I always preferred when guys left after the bowl game or at the very least after the last game of the season. I think this is still the norm but I wonder if that is changing with all the recruiting pressure.
