We've seen this before. What will Buffs do about it now?

"Deja vu all over again" as Yogi Berra once said. And I mean that on multiple fronts. First, why the fck was this game scheduled to begin with? Ridiculous game time. I live in NYC and have to be up for work basically when this game was ending so I DVRd it and was excited to hopefully watch a Buff W tonight on recording to kick off labor day wknd. Of course I couldn't not know the outcome so when I woke up at 6, checked Twitter and see Tweets from Adam and Ryan showing the Buffs lose in bizarre and referee impacted fashion. First thought: OF COURSE. Like it's actually unreal how many times this seems to happen to CU. Especially HCMM's squads.

After going through the Buffstampede game thread to get the general gist of the disaster it also becomes apparent that the Buffs DID show moments of domination. Moments where their O-line got push and the running backs ran hard. Moments where the D played great. I havent watched the game yet. But if this is in fact true, it does have me somewhat encouraged (i also cannot give up on this season so soon for my own sanity). The few highlights I saw showed the Buffs looking like a real team - at least size wise. Thats new and exciting. So feel encouraged there.

It also seems like they lost the game because of 1.) mistakes (that in theory can be improved on) 2.) missed opportunities by Sefo (not sure that gets improved on since its been his MO but still we know he can be better 3.) the REFS. Shocker there. But can the reffs bone the buffs this bad every week? 4.) this was just a weird ass game time. This game was such a trap. You have a decently veteran CU team that has some promise and a tiny bit of local hype on campus but that has never known how to win as a team playing their first game at 11 PM MST in freaking Hawaii with a freaking hurricane outside. I mean that's just tough. Sounds like they missed plays. Sounds like the refs sucked. Wish it was a different game for the first one given the presumed fragile mindset of this squad. BUT - at least, and correct me if i'm wrong, it does NOT sound like they were manhandled like CSU did to them to start last season. Plus, the D played well. These 2 facts make me not want to throw in the towel yet. Anyway, thats all I got. Sucks to be a Buff fan this morning but hey, we're used to it. Go Buffs!
