We had exactly 1 commit from Texas and he's gone

This is an indictment of where things just plain went wrong with this current staff. They dropped the ball recruiting wise too many times. No offense to Chev, but that was his big ticket in. He was going to get us back into Texas. He did in 2017 but things have tailed off hard. Are we not sending staff down there anymore? We had 2 whole commits from there and both decommitted and quite honestly weren't that excited to be here. Shenault killing it yet no one excited in that state to be a Buff? WTF?

I hope the new staff can do a better job there. There are recruits to be had there and there's a lot less Pac 12 competition for them. Think, Andrew Luck. The Texans that want out of the region should have CU near the top of their list. For the rest, we just need to grab the guys Texas, A&M, LSU, and Oklahoma don't get. The guys that go to Okie State, Missouri, Nebraska, TCU, Texas Tech, KSU etc. We need to out recruit other P5's. This is really a poor job by this current staff. Why don't we have Hagan down there? When he was interim coach for a short time in 2015, he went down there and secured Patrick Carr. Chev got us into DeSoto. Why hasn't he lived down there recruiting wise? Why aren't our strongest recruiters setting up beach heads in the DFW and greater Houston areas?

Truth is, we were never going to bridge the gap the way we were currently going. We were more likely to get painful decommits to rival Pac 12 teams than we were to finish strong. I cannot wait for a new approach to recruiting. It needs to happen as much as we need to start actually winning games.
