Brian Edwards
Miramar (Fla.)
6-foot-2, 188-pound Rivals250 defensive back
His favorite four schools: Colorado, Louisville, Miami, Florida
The Colorado Buffs hosted a big time recruit from the sunshine state over the weekend, as Brian Edwards made the trip to Boulder for the first time.
"It was good," Edwards said. "I really enjoyed myself, especially with the guys from South Plantation (Johnny Huntley and Anthony Julmisse). They really showed me a good time out there. They showed me how they fit in, and with me being a south Florida kid, I can fit in also. It was a great experience and great to be around the coaches. So yeah, it was good."
The four-star recruit does not want to wait around for his turn to play in college. Edwards wants to step in and play once he steps foot on the campus of his future home, and the Buffs' staff is selling him on that.
"I'm their No. 1 priority for them. I can come in and play corner and make an impact right away for the Buffs. I can come in and play as a true freshman."
Edwards is listed at safety on his Rivals.com profile, but his top four schools like him at cornerback.
"Most schools liked me at safety, but those are the ones I stopped talking to," he said. "The schools that I'm using my official visits for - those are the schools that want me to play corner."
The 6-foot-2, 188-pounder really likes what he saw from CU's secondary in 2016, which was arguably the best group in the Pac-12.
"Seeing the numbers that their DB's put up this year was great. Seeing what coach Tumpkin and coach Clark did with the guys it's such a blessing and a huge factor. I could come in and do that as well."
The Buffs are sticking out the most in Edward's recruitment
"The schools are even right now, but Colorado is really sticking out, because that's where I took my first official visit to. I could really see how I could come in and make an impact."
