Honolulu -- Last week in "The Rise Report" we reported that Colorado has basically moved on from recruiting Valor Christian defensive tackle Noah Elliss.

We feel really good about the source that gave us this intel, but could there be a chance that the Buffs are still going after Elliss?

According to the 6-foot-5, 330-pound four-star recruit, he's being recruited by the Buffs and is looking closely at five colleges.

He says he is looking to make a commitment sometime following the Polynesian Bowl this Saturday.

"I need to talk about it with my family. After Hawaii this week, I'll probably commit," Elliss said. "For colleges, it's Colorado, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Louisville.

"I know [my top schools'] D-line coaches pretty well, so that's pretty good. I like what they have to offer me for school and football."

Trying to figure out the exact details of Elliss' recruitment is a daunting task. He said that he's taken official visits to Colorado and Nebraska, but we're fairly certain that he has not.

His official visit plans for the weekend of January 27 are incredibly unclear. He told Rivals.com's Chris Swanson on Monday at the Polynesian Bowl registration that he'll be officially visiting Mississippi State the final weekend of January, but there are reports that he'll visit Utah that weekend and other reports say he's visiting Ole Miss.

At the end of the day, I'm not sure what will happen with Elliss, but I don't think he will be a Buff. Whether it be grades or some other circumstance, we believe that there is an off the field situation that might have him go the junior college route. That is an educated guess on my part.

EDIT: I just heard from a source, and Elliss is indeed officially visiting Mississippi State the weekend before National Signing Day. Also, grades are a concern here. He's likely to sign with a school and be placed in a junior college. My bet is Mississippi State for him. They have great JuCo's in Mississippi and MSU does this with prospects every year.
