BOULDER-- The game was coming down to the wire in Eugene and with one single play, Colorado's football season changed.

Why was it important?

Arguably the most memorable moment of the 2016 football season was when Ahkello Witherspoon intercepted Dakota Prukop in the end zone with under two minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Oregon started their final drive at their own 42-yard line and drove all the way down to the Colorado 7-yard line. A field goal from Oregon would only tie the game so Oregon kept trying to pound the ball into the end zone but the Colorado defense continued to stop them and on first and goal Witherspoon jumped the route and picked the ball saving the game for Colorado.

Impact on the 2016 season

Colorado recently just lost to Michigan on the road and was in a hard-fought road battle against Oregon when their season changed for the better because of this one play. Witherspoon's only interception on the season won the game for the Buffs and from there, their season took off. As his teammates tackled him in the end zone, Buff fans began to think that this season would be different.
