As you can see in the picture above, Colorado linebacker commit Jonathan Van Diest hosted two of his future coaches for an in-home visit a few days ago.

Buffs' head coach Mike MacIntyre used his one allowed in-home visit with Van Diest, and he brought along new defensive coordinator DJ Eliot.

"It was a really good visit. Knowing that I'm pretty secure in my commitment, there wasn't much of trying to reassure that I'm staying with CU," Van Diest said. "Most of it was getting to know coach Eliot and a lot of it was my parents talking.

"We got to know coach Eliot and his family and found out that he does have connections to Colorado. We asked questions like what the defense will be and what I'm playing. It was fun to have them over. I really like coach Eliot already."

Van Diest was very comfortable with how Eliot plans on using him.

"We're going to play the same 3-4 that we've been doing for a while, which is nice," said Van Diest. "Other than that, I'm still going to play mike [inside linebacker], so nothing really changes for me. I feel like coach Mac did a great job finding a coach that is going to provide a smooth transition."

Three days before his visit with Eliot and MacIntyre, Van Diest hosted defensive line coach Jim Jeffcoat at his home.

"He's a funny man; he's awesome," Van Diest said. It was a really good visit."

Van Diest had shoulder surgery a couple of days before his visit with Eliot and Mac. He said that the surgery went well, but he doesn't have a timetable for recovery at the moment.

"It's better to get the surgery now and wait to try it out this summer and hurt myself even more," he said.

Van Diest was the first commit in Colorado's 2017 class and is the leader of the bunch. He was an Under Armour All-American but was obviously not able to play in that game.
