If I had a vote for Sport Person of the Year, I would vote for US speed skater Brittany Bowe. If you did not hear what happen during qualifying speed skating for US women during the past three days the story is: The women are trying to make the Olympic winter team. The No. 1 ranked 500 meters women in the world is Erin Jackson. During the qualifying race last Friday Ms. Jackson slipped during the race and finished third, meaning she would like make the Olympic team. Ms. Jackson good friend, Brittany Bowe won this race. To help her friend Ms. Bowe gave up her spot on the team to Ms. Jackson, so Ms. Jackson could defend her title in the Olympics. Next month this will be the second Olympics for Ms. Jackson and third Olympics for Ms. Bowe. I think this is truly a great story about friendship and sportsmanship or in this case sportswomanship.
