Tayler Hawkins, a three-star prospect (5.6 RR) from Palm Springs (Calif.) High, received an offer from CU head coach Mike MacIntyre last Thursday and he has also been in quite a bit of contact with special teams coach Toby Neinas. "I definitely like their uniforms, and I like their field and what they are doing with their facilities, too," he said when asked about the Buffs. "I don't really know much about Colorado besides that, though. I am still trying to learn." The Buffs are recruiting him as a defensive back and return man, while some other schools that have offered, like Washington are simply recruiting him as an athlete. He had nearly 1,000 yards receiving and scored 15 touchdowns as a junior. "I would prefer to play defensive back, corner or safety, it doesn't really matter but I want to be a return guy, too," he said of his position preference for college. Hawkins said he knows he wants to take visits to Washington, Colorado, Colorado State, San Diego State and San Jose State "for sure." All of those schools have offered, and he is drawing interest from Oregon, Arizona State, Oregon State and Boise State. "I just want to wait it out until I make a final decision and get all my offers, because I want to get more offers, too," he said. Hawkins is currently ranked as the 65th best overall prospect in California this cycle. I'll have more in a front page write-up shortly.
