As an old Big 8 fan who remembers Okie Lite as being the league's shine box, it's hard to say this. But I have great respect for Gundy and what he's built in Stillwater. That program is a machine now.
They looked so much more physically dominant and faster than CU, but what's interesting is to look at their recruiting. They don't have that many 4-stars. Their classes average in the low 30's. There are a lot of 2-star recruits.
But they obviously have developed a system and know what they're looking for in players. They recruit primarily OK, TX, LA and Kansas, picking up "leftovers." On paper, not that impressive--on the field, their development is very impressive.
That's what continuity and vision can do, as well as having an established offensive identity. It's a model CU could have greater success in emulating.
