California edge rusher LeVar Talley made his way to Boulder for a two-day visit in the spring giving him an opportunity to see the team up close and get a better feel for the program overall. He is a Philadelphia native who made the move west, but he already feels plenty of connection to the region. He didn't take many visits in the spring, so there is certainly a good amount of interest there already. He admits that the communication with CU's coaches has not been as frequent as it once was, but he is hopeful that things will pick up once coaches are allowed to begin calling him in September since his only a rising junior right now.
I talked with him yesterday at the South County passing tournament in Southern California to get his thoughts on that spring visit to CU plus get an overall feel for his recruitment. He feels a connection with the Buffs coaches, so he does want to take another visit out to Boulder once again at some point. For now he is planning to visit Oregon for a second time later this month in between the two dead periods.
He played linebacker at Saturday's event but having seen him play both linebacker and defensive end his true upside is as a pass rusher. He will need to add some weight to truly be effective at that spot moving forward, and that is something he continues to work on this summer.
Here's a quote from the story that you can read in full at the link up top.
“The food was amazing. I didn’t even know they had good food out there. I went to this spaghetti spot and had meatballs and spaghetti and it was probably the best I ever had. The food was good, but the culture was a big part of it, too. It seems like the team really bonded with each other and gets along, and the coaching staff is obviously really good.”
He plays in arguably the toughest high school league in the country, so he routinely faces some of the toughest competition and that should make him well prepared for college.
