Practice Report:
BOULDER-- It's getting closer and closer to the regular season and with the camp practices coming to an end shortly the team looks to continue their development in preparation for the Rocky Mountain Showdown.
A lot of people have been raving about Tedric Thompson and what a player he is. After practice Coach MacIntyre chimed in his opinion about why Thompson is such a great player.
"Tedric has had a good camp, he's really improved his cover skills, I think he's really improved that from last year. He worked on that hard in spring and offseason. I've seen a big difference out here in that. He's a guy that's played a lot for us and he'll do well."
Coach MacIntyre said he's a quite leader.
Also linebacker and fellow teammate Rick Gamboa talked about Thompson and how he should have a blow up season this year.
"It's his last year, he's been really working real hard out here in camp and I think he's ready to have a big year," Rick Gamboa on Thompson.
Working with the special teams is always a priority during practice for Coach MacIntyre. With most of the kicking team returning this year, they will look toward Alex Kinney to contribute on the punting game. Kinney had a good year last year has a true freshman and is continuing to grow.
"He's really improved his drop, he's more consistent on hitting the ball consistently and all of that is in your drop. He's really been able to directional punt really well for us, which you need to do in this league."
The offense line has been making big strides this year, one player that has stood out to Coach MacIntyre is Sam Kronshage.
"The biggest improvement I've seen in Sam is he's just so much stronger, he's always had good feet, he just wasn't quite strong enough last year a lot of times."
"He's so much more experienced, it's making a big difference. He's had a really good camp."
The team has a two-a-day today where they will continue focusing on special teams and situational type plays.
Key Quotes from Player Interviews:
Rick Gamboa:
"I definitely say I have, I'm getting faster to the ball, my pre-snap reads are getting a lot faster so I know where the ball probably is going before the play."
Jaleel Awini:
"I look at it as a positive, I think it's a good problem to have. Obviously the coaches want to get me on the field so I look at it as a positive."
