Camp continues today! Interviews from Coach Mike MacIntyre and Sam Kronshage.
Practice Report:
BOULDER-- With the PAC 12 Network looming over them at practice today, the team continued to work hard and show their toughness.
After practice Coach MacIntyre discussed what he saw at the scrimmage on Saturday. He was pleased with both the offensive and defensive lines.
"I saw a very good line of scrimmage, really on both sides. I saw an aggressiveness on both sides of our line of scrimmage, up front on our offensive line and our defensive line. I know that sounds kind of crazy but it was. I thought it was physical."
The offensive line has improved from the spring, that momentum should continue into the season. Both of these lines are going to need bring a tough mentality with them to every game, if they want to compete for a bowl game.
The Buffs are going to look toward physicality this season to make their presence known in the PAC 12.
"I see that with this team more than we've had ever in the past."
The big news of practice came when, Coach MacIntyre called Kyle Evans and the captains up during the huddle. Coach wanted it to seem like Evans was in trouble, but instead gave Kyle some well deserving news.
"We gave one today to Kyle Evans, Kyle has earned it, Kyle will play a lot for us at running back and special teams. He’s had a great spring, he’s had a great early fall.” Coach MacIntyre on scholarships.
“I had a letter written up to him, I called him up and the captains up acted like he got in trouble. I said read this letter out to everybody, he read it out, he started crying and the whole team jumped on top of him. It was pretty speical.”
Evans had every right to get emotional after practice because of the way he played Saturday during the scrimmage, he made a pretty big case why he deserves to play football under scholarship.
Evans is a tough one to bring down and believe it or not Coach MacIntyre compared Evans to a mixture of Tony Jones and Eric Bieniemy.
“I’m not saying he's Eric Bieniemy, but he's built like that, he moves like that.”
The team has another two-a-day tonight in the indoor practice facility. There’s only two and half weeks until the Rocky Mountain Showdown. The Buffs are going to continue working hard on all sides of the ball.
Key Quote for Sam Kronshage:
"We're working hard this year, we're trying to get five solid guys to communicate and work together on one page up there. We're going to see when it comes to Colorado State the first game to see what we've done. I think we're preparing well and working hard."
