The guy is a winner because he is old school. No participation trophies. Never afraid to say a player didn’t play well in the media. Takes blame when it’s his fault and assigns blame when it’s a players fault. I know many will say this is theater and sandbagging. I don’t think so. The guy knows what it takes to win and being the nice guy isn’t generally what is always needed.
I have rooted against Bama most of my life having grown up in a Bama family because it’s so annoying - even when they sucked they thought they were the best. But you can’t root against Saban or guys like him. To me these guys are exactly what young men need and what most coaches used to be. No wonder moms and dads of the best of the best all hope their kids get the call to come play for him.
And yes they will crush Mercer —- why oh why would they ever even be allowed to play each other
