Everyone knows I am a geek and hate P5 vs D1AA games. I am updating the record of P5 vs D1AA for my own interest, but that is not really what this post is about. It was just while doing so, I noticed something interesting to me (maybe some others might find it interesting) about Alabama. From 1902 to 2003, Alabama had 595 home games of those they played:
313 in Tuscaloosa
237 in Birmingham (this does not count the games against Auburn when it was an Auburn home game)
23 in Montgomery
22 in Mobile
47% scheduled home game outside of your home stadium seems a lot. In the early 2000 Alabama fans must have said enough is enough. I thought that maybe it was just that Legion Field was so much larger than Bryant-Denny Stadium, but checking both had relative similar capacities thru their history.
