I caught up with Chris Mulumba, who is an early enrollee defensive end for the Colorado Buffaloes. He has a pretty cool accent, by the way.
Check out our Q&A below.
When are you getting to Colorado?
Mulumba: "I don't know yet. I think it'll be this weekend. I've been taking a mini-semester class. It's almost over."
You committed to Colorado the day they offered you and then you signed right away during the mid-year signing period. Have you been able to talk more with the coaching staff and bond more with them?
Mulumba: "Yeah. I've been on the phone with the coaches every day. I've talked with the players too. I'm just excited and can't wait to get there."
Have you done more research on Colorado to learn more about the program?
Mulumba: "Yeah a little bit. I even did some good research on them before I signed."
Looking back on your choice to sign with Colorado, do you feel pretty happy with your decision?
Mulumba: "Oh yeah. Definitely. Definitely."
If I can recall correctly, the day you committed to Colorado was the same day that coach Leavitt left. Was that a bummer for you?
Mulumba: "Yeah I was surprised a little bit, but I don't think it's going to affect our defense or how Colorado football plays. The replacement is going to be about the same or better."
What're you looking forward to about being at Colorado? Once you get there, what do you want to see and learn?
Mulumba: "I want to see the city of Boulder and see my teammates. I want to meet the coaches and get into a rhythm. It'll get busy and I can't wait for it."
You've had a long, long journey - coming from Finland, playing at a junior college, signed with Central Florida, and now you're finally at your final collegiate home. What has this journey been like for you?
Mulumba: "It's been a long journey. It's been quite the experience, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for me. I'm just excited and I'm pretty sure everything is going to go well."
