The CU MBB team is getting zero love. Granted we got totally smoked by iowa state (#7 BPI). However they probably should have beaten Michigan St ( BPI #21) and did beat Uconn (BPI #9). So we are 7-2 and 1-2 vs quad 1 teams. So for that we get a BPI #86 on a 24 th ranked strength of schedule. I get the early doubt about this team as our best PG is an unknown and inexperienced RJ Smith but this team has some upside. Baskin, Malone, can play with the big boys. Jakomovsky can also be a great addition if he can improve his shot selection. DAk, DIop, HAmmond, Rancik Kassaras and maybe Ruffin can fill a respectable rotation. Hopefully HCTB shotens the bench in conference games to 8 guys with a 9th getting minimal minutes. Limit TOs to 11 per game and we can be competive.
The best thing about this team is they are humble and have a willingness to work defensively and on the boards. THere is sneaky talent in Baskin, Smith and KAssaras with some time to develop in MAlone and Jakomovsky can carry the water for a bit.
This "rebuilding year" could be somewhat entertaining
