Market on coaches is way overinflated

You will rarely get the return on what you invest. You pay millions for losers. If a guy does happen to win, he'll break your bank to keep him like most of these schools do. Once you've over-invested, the return yields very little. You'll end up firing them more often than not with huge buyouts and contract fulfillments. If you don't pay up, they'll be off to the next institution wasting their money.

The head football coach has become the CEO of college sports. Retreads with huge golden parachutes that will end up losing the company lots of money while watching lots of sad faced employees get their pink slips. They will cash out and wash up on someone else's shore doing the same dance. All they need is 1 decent year that probably had little to do with their efforts and they are set for life.

With that said, I hope CU finds a guy that can come in and win right away. If we can't get that guy, then we need to buy on the cheap because just about any coach can lose a ton of games. Better to lose on the cheap than to lose while breaking the bank. In other words, go big or go cheap.
