George and CU quality control coach Nate Taye
Milledgeville (Ga.) Georgia Military College cornerback Kevin George's recruitment moved along pretty fast once Colorado started pursuing him.
Colorado brought him on campus over the weekend for an official visit and offered him a full ride scholarship on Saturday. Just a couple of hours later, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect committed to Colorado
"I loved the town. The players were pretty cool, and with coach Mac I feel like I'll be perfect in his defensive scheme," George said. "He coached in the NFL and has three DB's going to the NFL this year. Coach Eliot seemed very excited to get me here. I think they're the best fit for me. They showed the most interest, and I decided to commit."
George got along great with new CU defensive coordinator DJ Eliot.
"Coach Eliot was very excited and said how he can't wait to get me up there," said George. "He's really excited about me. He wants me to be there guy at corner, and I'll be a perfect fit.
"They don't want me to come in and just be a backup. They want me to play and fill the spots that they're missing. Hopefully I can come in and make an impact."
George is from Louisiana and played his year of junior college ball in Georgia. He has a daughter that is back at home in Louisiana. George is confident that everything will be able to work out while he's in Boulder and his daughter is in Louisiana.
"The Colorado coaches said they can help me out with that," George explained. "I'll be able to go see her. During the season I won't get to see her much though. But right now, I'm 13 already hours from her. I miss her a lot, and I wish I could see my daughter everyday, but I have to do what's best for me and her. It's better than staying home and not doing anything. I'm getting my degree, and hopefully I can play on Sundays."
George's only other offer is from Delta State, but he has several other schools talking to him, including Charles Clark at Oregon. He even had coaches texting him while he was in Boulder.
But George will remain solid with his Colorado pledge.
"Colorado had the most interest in me. They like me the most," he said. "I decided to commit there and the schools that have been texting my phone, I just haven't been responding to them. I might open them and read them but not respond. I don't want to entertain any other schools and have the Colorado coaches lose their trust in me. I think Colorado is a perfect fit for me."
George will sign with CU on February 1 and enroll this summer as a true sophomore.
