Saw some debate on Higgins draft position and since I have an unhealthy obsession with the NFL draft / Fantasy Football according to my wife I thought I would give some of my insight. From all the NFL mock draft I follow Higgins he is projected to go in rounds 3-5, which is pretty accurate from what I have seen of him.

First, the NFL could care less what award list you are on, they draft on measurables, then film against good talent. Higgins will be automatically discounted for the talent he plays against. I think the last none BSC WR that went in the 1st round was Rodney White in 2005 and Randy Moss before that. That is just reality that will happen to Higgins.

Higggins will and should go out next year. He is listed at 6’2”, which means he will be between 6’0” and 6’1” at the combine and that looks about right when seeing him play. He isn’t a physical freak by any stretch. Assuming he has a good year his draft ranges will probably be as follows: if he runs in the 4.5 range he should get picked in rounds 3-6, if he runs a 4.4 range he should get picked in rounds 3-4 with an outside shot at the second round. If he runs in the 4.3 range he will get drafted in the 1-2 round, cause that is freaky fast.

For reference P Rich was one of the fastest at the draft, running 4.4 and got drafted in the mid second round. I don’t think Higgins is as fast as P Rich, will run in the high 4.4s and get drafted somewhere in rounds 3-5. Unfortunately I don’t think Spruce will run well and will get drafted in the later rounds or be a free agent.
