Now, to hit the brakes from the get-go, I think we can all agree that Karl Dorrell's remarks on Brendon Lewis sound familiar. That's because Dorrell had said similar things about Lewis dating back to last spring and then this past summer, before JT Shrout went down and Lewis was named starter.
So, there's that to keep in mind. However, I don't doubt that Lewis has indeed changed after a year of starting under his belt in addition to the offseason work he's been able to do in reflecting on the 2021 campaign.
I for one am excited to see the QB battle develop but by no means am I counting Lewis out already. I think that'd be unwise to do. Who knows what kind of player he could evolve into with steady OL play and a competent offensive system to work in.
While I'm taking Dorrell's ultra positive comments with a grain of salt, I do want to believe that there's truth in what he said about Lewis showing improvement.
