- With Colorado at 20 verbal commitments and just a few spots left in this class, there's really not a whole lot of drama. Say what you want about this staff, but from my view as a recruiting reporter, I've always been impressed with how CU goes about their business. They cover their bases, have plan B's across the board in anticipation for all scenarios, and do a very good job in the small details of the recruiting process.
- There are a few commits that I'm hearing could be wavering in their CU commitments. After Datona Jackson committed and told me that he would still be looking at other schools, this board went into a meltdown, but I'm hearing from a good source that CU actually feels good about where they stand with Jackson. My gut tells me that CU isn't in a good place with him though. I don't like to base my feelings on a kid's recruitment based on Twitter stuff, but Jackson doesn't have much CU related things on his account right now. But I am hearing that Jackson isn't very enamored with UCLA, who is his other big offer. If USC does offer, then Jackson will probably flip on the spot.
- The other two commits to keep an eye on that could flip are Jaylen Martin and Cam'Ron Johnson. For Johnson, I think he'll stick with Colorado. He can be a little all over the place but I think at the end of the day, he sticks. Of the three guys I've mentioned -- Jackson, Martin, and Johnson -- I actually think Martin is the most likely to flip based on what I'm hearing. From when I started talking to him, I've always got the vibe that he wants the attention the recruiting process brings and wants to drag things out. If Cal continues to play well and CU finishes out the season weak, I think he flips.
- IMO, the top recruit left on the board is Darius Robinson. The Michigan DE may be leaning Syracuse right now, but Colorado is really fighting. I thought Michigan State was in the lead but looks like that's not the case. Keep an eye on CU making a run for Robinson.
- Colorado's next home game is on 11/10 versus Washington State. As of right now, the Buffs will not have any official visitors that weekend.
- There are some things in the background that are happening in terms of additions and subtractions on the commitment list that I can't go into right now. That stuff will come to light eventually. I just don't want to burn sources.
- The big positions of need as the Buffs finish out the class are on the defensive line and inside linebacker. A couple of guys to keep an eye on at ILB are Malik Caper and Drew Fowler. Caleb Johnson is a JuCo option. At DL, the targets are Siale Liku and Darius Robinson, and I imagine there are some others out there that I don't know about whom CU hasn't offered yet. Of course, Kyle Ford and La'Vontae Shenault are targets at WR but are more luxuries than necessity. I don't think the Buffs end up taking a TE in this class but we'll see.
- If I had to guess, I'd say the Buffaloes have 23 signees (that includes Joshka Gustav, a 2018 grayshirt) and then maybe a couple of gray shirts to get to 25.
