It was reported that an attractive feature of Big Ten membership was its BTAA. This really caught the attention of SC’s president, Carol Folt. It turns out that the Pac-12 has a similar program with a similar mission, although perhaps not as robust. People would be interested since the Pac ALC is something that keeps Colorado in the Pac 12. Below is some research comparing the BTAA and what the Pac 12 has to offer:

15 US research universities in the Big Ten Conference compose the Big Ten Academic Alliance, formerly the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC). The alliance promotes academic collaboration and excellence among its members.

The Big Ten Academic Alliance fosters joint research projects, library resource sharing, study abroad programs, and faculty-student exchanges. The alliance provides professional development for teachers and staff and interdisciplinary research and instruction for graduate students.

The Big Ten Academic Alliance offers the Academic Leadership Program, Big Ten Voting Challenge, Shared Services Program, Big Ten Student Traveling Exhibition, and Summer Research Opportunities Program, among others. The Big Ten Academic Alliance's member universities can improve academic influence and discovery in many domains by sharing resources and expertise.

The Pac-12 Academic Leadership Coalition (ALC) is a body that functions similarly to the Big Ten Academic Alliance in the Pac-12 Conference. The Pac-12 ALC is an association of the 12 research universities that make up the Pac-12. Promoting academic quality, teamwork, and innovation among Pac-12 universities is the goal of the Pac-12 ALC.

Academic leaders from the member institutions have a place to collaborate on projects and goals through the Pac-12 ALC. It supports numerous initiatives and programs relating to academic achievement, research, innovation, and student success, such as faculty and student exchanges, collaborative research projects, leadership development courses, and welfare programs for student-athletes.

The Pac-12 Global Initiative, which offers opportunities for student-athletes to study abroad and compete internationally, the Pac-12 Conference Grant Program, which supports collaborative research projects among faculty from different Pac-12 institutions, and the Pac-12 Mental Health Task Force, which aims to improve the mental health and well-being of student-athletes, are some of the specific programs and initiatives offered by the Pac-12 ALC.

Overall, the Big Ten Academic Alliance and the Pac-12 Academic Alliance have the same goals of fostering academic achievement and cooperation among its member universities.
