The Big-12 had an unsurprising first weekend at football. Of the sixteen schools, fourteen won, the only losses being WVU to Penn State (anticipated) and Houston to UNLV (not antiicpated.) Only two of the opponents were Power 4 -- WVU/Penn State, and TCU's win against Stanford. The TCU game was the only Big-12 contest not played at home.

Big-12 attendance for the first weekend, not all that stunning, was as follows:

1. BYU/Southern Illinois: 63,712
2. WVU/PSU: 62,084
3. Texas Tech/Abilene Christian: 60,229
4. ISU/North Dakota: 56,148
5. Utah/Southern Utah: 52,210
6. Ok State/South Dakota St: 52,202
7. KSU/UT Martin: 51,240
8. CU/ND State: 49,438
9. ASU/Wyoming: 48,108
10. Arizona/New Mexico: 44,748
11. UCF/New Hampshire: 44,206
12. Baylor/Tarleton St: 42,272
13. Cincy/Towson St: 37,654
14. Houston/UNLV: 25,750
15. Kansas/Lindenwood: 20,829

(Road game, TCU at Stanford: 36,026)
