Andersen is a Mountain West coach and Dykes is a WAC coach.

I do not think Andersen's time in Wisconsin can have any bearing on how he will do at OSU because he spent 2 seasons in Madison with the majority of the main players not recruited by him. He bolted before year 3. That is the year you will get a true bearing of how a coach really runs a program from top to bottom. Can he coach and recruit? Or is he only good at one of the two? Or none (maybe leftover talent was good enough to win in the beginning)? Not that OSU is being predicted to be at the top of the P12, but it is frustrating to see CU still viewed inferior to them. Andersen did not have the Beavs trending upward when he left ("Heisman" QB is gone). Andersen will have to prove himself with a new QB in a tough conference with his only true personal success coming at Utah State where he did nothing more than what HCMM did in his tenure at SJSU. I am planning on driving from Norcal up to Corvallis for a W. It will be my 6 month old son's first Buffs game. I am expecting good things that game.

As for Cal and Dykes, let's just sat I wish the Buffs were playing them again this year. Sefo had a career day vs. them last year and the secondary is worse than the previous season. Air raid, "Bear" raid, blah blah blah. The Bears proved they could come from behind against a few tough opponents last year the same way the Buffs came from behind on multiple occasions. Only exception is the Bears came out on top. Flip the Cal and UCLA games (both OT losses for the Buffs) and I believe everyone would be talking about CU and Sefo the way the writers believe Goff and Cal's offense will be enough to make a bowl game this year. Dykes had success in the WAC as did HCMM. Only differences between the two schools are a more fertile CA recruiting ground than the state of CO and a higher rated academic institution. Dykes is a able to recruit better players that grew up watching Lynch, Rodgers, and Desean Jackson compete for conference titles in their back yard (1990 is too far in the past for CO kids that are routinely a step below the overall talent coming from CA). Dykes gets handed a few extra star recruits by default. I do hope the Bears win a few vs our P12 south to help any Buff chances down the road. Again, I wish the Buffs got a shot at the Bears again this year because I think this new found confidence in the Buff's team would be a difference maker.

When you really look at the uphill battle HCMM inherited against two other coaches in the conference that came from virtually the same background, I think I start to appreciate him a bit more. Wins need to come soon, but if you gave me the pick of the 3 coaches in the discussion I would like to say my unbiased pick would be HCMM for the Buffs.
