Didn't get to watch this one, but through the Champions Center parking lot gates I did catch the tail end of things, as sophomore CB Kaylin Moore picked off Brendon Lewis on a cross route attempt to Chase Penry (Lewis never should have thrown it...sigh); that undoubtedly got the D fired up.

But that's all I can attest to witnessing personally.

Regarding the INT, HCKD: "He was in the right position, we got a little pass rush on B-Lew and he tried to move out of the pocket. I think moving around the pocket, he kind of lost visuals of his receivers, so he was kind of guessing where he was...He's got to see it better. I was standing right behind him, so I know what his lack of vision was, but Kaylin played it perfectly. He kept his eyes on (Lewis) and made a really nice play."

Tyrin Taylor, playing nickel at the time, on the INT: "Chase Penry, he ran the over route from the slot on the left side, going to the right side of the field. I had the middle of the field (with) safety help, so as soon as (Lewis) attached onto Chase going across the field, I'm looking for the ball. And the next thing you know, he threw it and Kaylin came out of nowhere."

....

Quick point here on the above bolded section: Really am not pleased to see that Lewis' eyeballs are glued to receivers still. I know this for damn sure — if Tyrin Taylor can see that happening in real time, so will Pac-12 secondaries. For balance, I obviously don't watch every snap that Lewis takes, but hearing what Taylor said I find to be a bit concerning.

However, on the other side of things, the whole reason Lewis ended up making an ill-advised throw is because he, per Dorrell, was under pressure, specifically from Chance Main. Na'im Rodman and Jalen Sami had sacks today

....

Moving onward, senior RB Alex Fontenot didn't participate today (didn't scrimmage last Saturday, either).

Dorrell: "We're trying to get him back next week. He's close. It's a soft tissue injury — nothing significant."

...

HCKD once again had good thing to say about senior wideout Daniel Arias, who appears to continue to keep making plays this spring. His name has been uttered quite a bit. I've said this probably for the last two years straight at least, but is this the season Arias finally puts it all together with his god-given frame, strength and size, translating it to on-field success on a consistent basis? That'd be nice.

Dorrell: "Daniel, I'm excited about what his future is going to look like. Here's a guy that I think the last couple of years, he hasn't been targeted all that much. I think he's going to be a big part of what we are in the future. So, to really see him come alive, you can tell he's becoming a better player because he's getting more attention."

...

Overall, Dorrell continues to sound encouraged by what he's seeing on the practice field. One week of spring ball left, which begins this upcoming Monday, leading into next Saturday's Spring Showcase.
