@Scavenger, @CRBuff, @dtownbuff, @rward and all you other basketball fans.
1) Charlie Moore (remeber him?) is now at his 4th school since he broke in with Cal a zillion years ago... Cal, KU, DePaul and now Miami. Dude has more lives that a cat.
2) Rick Pitino- Huge fan of RP since I was in HS. He is a bit older than me and I remember reading about this HS kid from Oyster Bay, Long Island who was a helluva player, and just a bit taller than me. Went on to have a great career at Umass and began his coaching life at BU in 1978 at 26 years old. Took Providence to the Final 4 in 85 with Billy Donovan at PG, a great run for sure. Had 2 stops in the NBA (not his calling) and then took KY to the Chip in 96 and Louisville in 2013. And now, he has lead the Iona Gaels to a 6-0 start amd most likely a top 25 ranking come nex week. They Beat #10 Bama last night 72-68 and they are the first MAC team to ever beat a top 10 team (0-119 before night). Oh, and he has now won a total of 42 games against top 10 opponents in is career.
So, how long before a somebody steps up, buys him out at Iona and hires him, and who will it be?
I was beyond dispointed when he screwed the pooch at Louisville and lost all respect for the guy. Still pisses me off to this day.
With that said, I still think he is one of the best, if not the best college coach today and if I needed one guy to coach one big game I would take RP over Coach K, Bill Self, or any other coach. Jeff Goodman said something like: he will beat you with his players, he will beat you with your players, and he will beat you at the YMCA with any players.
Enough of the rant.
