Before the calendar flipped from 2021 to 2022, the Buffaloes received their first Class of 2023 commitment on New Year's Eve via Houston (Yates) edge Kam'ron Bizor.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Bizor held an offer from California, with Mississippi State and Kansas also having showed interest leading up to his verbal commitment to CU.
Bizor announced his offer from Colorado back on Nov. 30 and committed just over a month afterwards.
Safeties coach and defensive passing game coordinator Brett Maxie, in addition to lead recruiting assistant DJ Bryant recruited him.
“Colorado had been one of my dream schools for a very long time," Bizor said. "It’s a college I’ve been waiting to come to and once they finally offered me, me and my parents spoke over it and that’s what it came down to. Coach Maxie recruited me and coach DJ Bryant. They made me feel very loved and like I was family to them.”
Bizor was recruited by Colorado as an edge, with Maxie and Bryant coming away impressed with his pass rush abilities.
“From what I’ve heard from coaches, they like how I attack the ball and how I stay on the edge," Bizor said. "They also liked how I use my hands. My main strengths are getting to the quarterback, following the ball wherever it goes, and then when (opposing offensive linemen are) down blocking, I squeeze to get to the ball," he said. "I’m very disciplined.”
While he's never seen Boulder in-person, Bizor relayed that the pictures Maxie and Bryant sent him have him eager to take a trip out to Colorado.
Currently, that is being planned for this upcoming May.
Until then, and as he prepares for his final high school football season this fall, Bizor is focused on improving his speed and footwork.
.....
Bizor sounds pretty onboard with the Buffs, but that is a long time between now and when he's set to visit CU. Wouldn't be surprised to see more offers fall into his lap by that time. At any rate, having a Texas kid be the first to commit for the second straight recruiting class is good to see. Colorado did pretty well down there for the 2022 class and I'd imagine wants to land another solid handful of Lone Star State recruits for the 2023 class.
