With football coming off of a 0-7 meltdown in '18 culminating with a regime change, the men's and women's BB teams wilting fast against conference foes, and the fact that I'm off work due to a "snow day" in southern Colorado, I felt the need to inspire someone besides students.

So, how do we win the PAC 12 South to start this football turnaround?
DEFENSE, DEFENSE, and more DEFENSE!

Taking a page from Cal, Utah, and Washington. Cal was by far the most extreme example of a team that won and became bowl eligible with the most offensive offense in college football. Yet, they were was successful, and we can follow that path BUT will have a better offense to pair with the defense, see Utah and Washington. Neither team were offensive powerhouses, but with great defenses, won their respective divisions and that's the source of my optimism. Great defense travels well and isn't blown up by bad weather, whereas offense is fickle and often hinges on the health of its star players (Shenault, Sheault, Shenault, Montez, Nixon, Winfree etc.). With Mustafa, Lang, and Landman leading the front seven, and Coach Tucker has filling positions of need, we can win with defense if need be. If the offense can approach he 5-0 form in the first half of the '18 season (or even come close), we WILL ACHIVE BOWL ELIGIBILITY and WIN THE SOUTH. With a HUGE win at home over the Trojans, Buffs exorcise the demon, leading to bigger home crowds and momentum to equally big wins vs. Stanford and Washington at home and in the driver's seat to win the South division. That will be program changing IMO as it will put national attention right back on this program and will give our coaching staff the clout they need to win recruiting battles with players like Hill, whom we just lost to the Ducks. Optimistically, coach Tucker and staff utilize the success in '19 to blow the top off in recruiting in '20 and beyond, setting the stage for a long term resurgence in this once storied program.
Optimistic? Yes, but also realistic IMO.

Drinking the Kool Aide - Cheers!
