California point guard Isaiah Johnson has committed to Colorado tonight becoming the first pledge for Tad Boyle and the Buffs in the 2025 class. CU beat out San Diego, UC Davis, Weber State, Rice, North Carolina A&T, Cal State Fullerton, Sam Houston State, New Mexico State, Denver and UC Riverside for the 6-foot-1 prospect. Johnson put on an impressive showing at the Section 7 event out in Arizona earlier this summer that was attended by Boyle and his staff.
It was part of what has been a productive offseason for the California guard who has gone a bit under the radar with college teams.
He's a little bit on the slim side but he has good enough height to grow into a solid guard at the next level. He's a big-time scoring threat and could fit in with the Buffs as a versatile piece because of his ability to get to the hoop and rack up points.
