Travis Hunter shines to opener 2024 with 3-TD performance

Colorado's two-way star Travis Hunter was SPECIAL on Thursday night as he tied a program record with three receiving touchdowns in the 31-26 victory over North Dakota State. His play on Thursday brought plenty of attention his way with even LeBron James chiming in on social media about the CU receiver and cornerback.

Hunter told Nikki that he doesn't like to pay attention to any negativity or praise he receives, and he also mentioned he has no personal goals. As he opens his junior season there is one thing on his mind more than anything else.

"I don't even try to look at it. I don't pay attention to it. I just wanna win with my team, go out with my brothers and the end goal I want us to be holding up a trophy."

Here's my writeup about Hunter's big performance to open the 2024 season on Thursday night.

The biggest payday games in 2024, FCB vs FBS added

Just last year, New Mexico State received $1.85 million to visit Auburn and then abruptly upset the Tigers.

This year, Auburn is paying another school from The Land of Enchantment — this time the New Mexico Lobos — $1.9 million to play at Jordan-Hare Stadium. That amount ties as the biggest payday for a visiting team, along with Georgia and Alabama.

Here’s a look at the highest amounts paid to visiting teams this season:

Alabama: $1.9 million to Western Kentucky, Aug. 31
Auburn: $1.9 million to New Mexico, Sept. 14
Georgia: $1.9 million to UMass, Nov. 23
Michigan: $1.85 million to Fresno State, Aug. 31
Michigan: $1.8 million to Arkansas State, Sept. 14
Ohio State: $1.8 million to Akron, Aug. 31
Ohio State: $1.8 million to Western Michigan, Sept. 7
Texas: $1.8 million to Colorado State, Aug. 31
Texas: $1.7 million* to UTSA, Sept. 14
LSU: $1.65 million to South Alabama, Sept. 28
Nebraska: $1.65 million to UTEP, Aug. 31
Ohio State: $1.6 million to Marshall, Sept. 21
Ole Miss: $1.6 million to Middle Tennessee, Sept. 7
Texas A&M: $1.6 million to Bowling Green, Sept. 21
*Texas is in second year of five-game series with UTSA, with an average payout of $1.7 million per game

Lane Train

Kiffin is my favorite coach in the sport with Sark close behind. Because of my work, some close friends struggles and my own ugly journey that finally ended in redemption and clarity I am drawn deeply to those who flame out but do the work and find their way back.

So refreshing to see him admitting he is still flawed but working his ass off, seeking humility and clarity to be the best version of himself he can be for him and only him.

Inspiring article. I hope Lane crushes it this year

It's going to be a quiet night on the recruiting front for the football program tomorrow, but Tad Boyle and his staff will host a priority target beginning Thursday. Colorado Prep standout point guard Josiah Sanders is set to begin his official visit with the Buffs tomorrow. The 6-foot-4 prospect and native of Denver put together a strong offseason, and it brought him attention from across the country.

He has a top five that includes CU, Tennessee, San Diego State, Northwestern and Stanford. All five programs will get him on campus for an official visit in the coming weeks beginning with the Buffs on Thursday.

O line notes....

First coming from the newsstand:
Tyler Brown is no chump. I didn't realize he was an FBS All-American.

And in watching the well-off media videos I see the khalil Benson - number 67, is back in full pads and practicing unrestricted.

OT: But does affect football - US Tennis Open extends deal with ESPN

The reason why this affects CFB is ESPN and ESPN2 (mostly the second one) has US Open Tennis on the first two weekends in September most years so one less spot for a college football game to me on Th, Fr and Sat to start the season

According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, the deal is worth $170 million per year and $2.1 billion over the life of the contract, which is 12 years.
