Deion Sanders is giving Colorado what it has long lacked: relevance

Here's my larger piece off today's introductory press conference. As someone who followed this team this season, it was still a pretty surreal scene. If nothing else, Deion Sanders is going to bring this program the kind of relevance it hasn't had in decades

JSU players

I just peeked at another site and saw JSU's recruits in 2021 and 2022. They have about 5 guys in each class that they beat out Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Texas, Tennessee, etc. I hope he brings all of these guys with eligibility (at least one was a CC transfer) to CU. And if he can continue to beat out these schools for recruits like he did at JSU, we just may be what he envisions, a winner.

WATCH: 2024 Rivals100 ATH Jordan Anderson talks new CU offer

Jordan Anderson is one of the top two-way prospects in the 2024 class. Earlier this week Colorado became the latest school to offer the California recruit from Millikan High School in Long Beach. He already has several Power Five offers and is closing in on 30 offers overall even though he just opened his junior season last night. I went out to watch Anderson and his team play in their opener, and the four-star prospect was as impressive as ever and he only played in one half. He made a really nice catch on a deep ball plus he took a screen pass for a touchdown as well. He returned punts and kicks and played cornerback as well on the first night of action this season. He is a well-rounded recruit who could end up playing on either side of the ball. He's more natural on defense but he makes a ton of plays on offense as well, so he could legitimately contribute on either side of the ball in college.

He's very much intrigued by the Buffs and wants to take a visit to Boulder at some point.

"I want to head down there. They tell me it feels like a family when you do down there, so I'm just waiting to get up there and go check that out with my family."

You can watch my full interview with him up above.

Would love to see an independent analysis of our current and prospective roster. Who are the kids who will likely stay / be retained; who may come from JSU; which of our current offers will likely be honored; and who are the new prospects we may see.

Know there are lots of moving parts and it might time to pull this together...but would really appreciate it.

I've been on this site for years...but have been completely disillusioned and frustrated in recent years. Nice to see a little excitement back in the program.

Deion Sanders is introduced as Colorado's 28th full-time head coach. The press conference begins with opening statements from Chancellor Phillip DiStefano, AD Rick George and Sanders. Sanders discusses his expectations with the program, leaving Jackson State and his excitement on serving as head coach.

Deion Sanders Reportedly Targeting Major SEC Assistant Coach

“According to a report this weekend, the Buffaloes' new head coach is targeting a prominent SEC assistant coach.

Sanders is reportedly interested in bringing Charles Kelly with him to Boulder, according to Football Scoop.

Kelly is Alabama's assistant defensive coordinator. “

East St. Louis LB Antwon Hayden reacts to Deion Sanders hire.

I just talked with Antwon “Jo Jo” Hayden who is currently committed to Illinois. Extremely talented and should be getting a rankings bump. Will be in the four-star conversation by the final rankings release.

He will be a target for the new staff. Here is his reaction to the hire:

“Very crazy. Maybe the biggest news in college football since NIL was brought up. He definitely shook the college football world with this one.”

If you're interested, I've got a piece up looking at the biggest position holes on the Buffs' roster that Deion Sanders will have to deal with
