CU building new video board on south end of Folsom

Here’s a look at the transformation:

Per the release:

The Colorado Buffaloes will begin construction on a new video board on the south end of Folsom Field that will be ready for the 2024 season, CU Athletic Director Rick George announced Wednesday.
The new board will be more than five times the surface area of the old board. The ribbon board below the video board will also be significantly expanded, stretching from the north end of the club level on the east side around the bowl to Balch Fieldhouse on the southwest side, over 1,000 feet from the top of section 203 to the top of section 220.
“Enhancing the atmosphere of Folsom Field on game day is always a top priority and we are always looking for ways to improve,” CU Athletic Director Rick George said. “I’m confident this new video board will further enrich and elevate the game day experience for our fans next year in our first season in the Big 12 Conference.”
The new board will measure 130 feet wide by 36 feet high, eight feet taller than the current board and 98 feet wider, or about the same width of the current ribbon board under the current video board, which measures 32 feet by 28 feet.

Transfer Portal - looking ahead

Yes, I know - there are 3 more games to play this season. Nevertheless, it should be abundantly clear by now that a significant upgrade in talent will be necessary going forward. With the early signing day rapidly approaching we have only 10 commits and cool interest among outstanding offers per an unscientific review of multiple recruiting sites. Relying on a bevy of late flips is unrealistic (and those go both ways too) . Moreover, there is no indication that Coach Prime has modified his philosophy of heavy reliance on the TP, at least for now. Thus, the TP will have an outsized impact on this program in year 2 of the Prime Era.
Some dates to keep in mind under the new rules: The first window opens up for 30 days following the conference championships. So players entering the TP in this window must do so between 12/4/23 - 1/3/24. Players in a bowl game get an additional 5 days following the bowl if applicable. The second window is open from 5/1/24 - 5/15/24. Players technically can still enter the portal outside of those 45 days, but they will need to sit out a season before becoming eligible if they do so — even if they have not used their one-time transfer exception yet.
I still think that the first portal window will be the most important. More players enter early and now everyone has a better idea of what Prime is doing at CU and what opportunities may exist here. So, it seems to me that we may have a pretty good initial indication of how successful his TP blueprint may be by mid-late January, which is not to say there won't be more defections and additions along the way; there will be.
Buckle up Buff fans 🤞🦬

Trust the Process

Agree. 3-4 year deal. Always was going to be. I’d trust the process more if there appeared to be a process.

Maybe it just can’t see through his windows

Morning after thoughts

Left at the end of the 3rd and listened on the way home. Nice to have one drive but the game was never in doubt for OSU. I’m okay with that. I’m ok with our record overall and I haven’t been surprised yet. I just wanted to be surprised. I’m an optimist and I wanted them to prove people wrong.

We have some coaches that really need to grow quickly and others who it appears should go. The talent is where many thought it would be and we all knew we only had 15 or so P5 players so work to do.

Here is what I think

1. This coaching staff is going to change whether Sanders makes the changes or not. His style of management will always create turnover if he is truly bringing in good talent not just yes men.

2. Sanders needs to figure out what his role is going to be. Recruiter and figure head ? CEO and manager of the organization? Coach? He is only good at one of those right now. If he wants to be one of the others then he needs to go find those who can teach him how and then listen. If not then go recruit and hire leaders to do the other stuff

3. No OC was going to do much this year. Many of us tried to say that all summer. You can’t run an offense without linemen. And we haven’t save for hit and miss times against bad teams. The numbers look good at times but are meaningless.
OC wasn’t great but wasn’t the problem and now it is so Sanders needs to be prepared to go shopping and until we fix the talent it could be a revolving door

4. Kelly has been doing better by the week. The issue right now is talent. The D had more to start with than the O where it mattered. It’s not great talent but better then than the other side of the ball and Kelly is growing and maximizing it. Get him some talent and reassess after 2025.

5. Time to stop the off field distractions. People are over it and you can feel it and hear it at the game, hanging out with those who donate , and talking to friends. It was fun. We all enjoyed it even if we knew we were watching a train wreck coming. Now it’s time to just work

6. Replace your ST and OL coach. You’re going to have to replace your OC so go find someone who has experience and is a strong leader and right hand. Someone who isn’t afraid to lose their job for speaking up and expects to have influence. Pay them well

7. Go find and pay whatever you need to the coach who can RECRUIT and attracts great OL because of who he is. Make him AHC or if need be the OC and hire someone else to call plays. It can work and is important

This team is where I thought it would be. Won more than last year. Struggling against any team that is decent. Some great play makers who are fun to watch. Suffering from the weight of false expectations, erratic leadership and the shadow of the HC personality.

We can build what we all want. We have a great recruiter and brand ambassador. Maybe the best ever. We need now to hire experienced and strong coaches and let them work together to build the machine while Sanders drives it
