It occurred to me

I was thinking over the A&M candidates at the gym this morning. The list in their minds is very short I am sure. In many ways they are right to be picky and can be. It’s an attractive tier two job with tier 1 resources.

It won’t happen but Sanders is a good fit if I’m thinking this through correctly

1. SS can go with him as his coach left and kids get a free pass I believe (if it’s only for termination then ignore the rest)
2. They are absolutely stacked with talent and Sanders can just be a mouthpiece and recruiter like he was at JSU. They won’t beat Bama and Georgia but he isn’t coaching long enough for that to matter most likely.
3. Petrino is a weirdo but a heck of an OC. Major upgrade from what Sanders has now
4. SS and TH immediately have Heisman aspirations that isn’t happening here
5. A&M can pay him less than Jimbo and it’s still a raise
6. No massive buyout needed. Sanders doesn’t care about that.
7. Sanders fits right into the whole cult thing and they would love it

It’s a crazy idea but if I was A&M, given the coaches they have, the kids they have and the resources I’d do it for the next 3-4 years.

DP: FB - Keeler: Deion Sanders, CU Buffs might not win another football game. Coach Prime was still perfect hire. (Yeah, road trips to Wazzu and Utah make 4-8 a serious possibility. But see those sellouts? See that Time magazine cover? You can’t buy that kind of ad space, images burned with a hot iron into the American psyche.)

Well now I'm worried

Texas A&M has so much money they are willing to spend $80m to fire a guy. CU can't compete with that kind of money if they go after Coach Prime. AND with the Winston Watkins decommit thinking Coach Prime might not be there in 2025? That's Coach Prime's guy. He may have some inside info. As far as Shedeur goes, he can't transfer without sitting out, but he can declare for the NFL...

Now, Texas A&M fired Jimbo because he didn't win. And Coach Prime isn't winning either. And Texas A&M doesn't need a great recruiter, they need a great coach. But they just paid $80m to fire a coach, so they can't be very smart...

I hope this is just "I've seen this happen to me before" stuff in my mind. But it sure feels like something is up.
