To use a Saturday Night Live analogy, last season, Robert Barnes was more of a featured player. In 2022, he'll look to be promoted to regular cast member.
Of course, once Nate Landman went down last year, Barnes was thrust into more of a regular role, but he certainly was more of a role/situational player beforehand.
I do think the Buffs will add an ILB from the transfer portal at some point before late, but I also believe Barnes is in the clear to assume the kind of defensive role that he talks about below. As of right now, he probably ranks as the most versatile ILB on CU's roster.
He has the opportunity to be a stabilizing presence on defense, now with Landman 100% gone and not able to even help out from the sidelines in-game. Sounds like Barnes is embracing all of that.
Robert Barnes ready to assume a more complete role at Colorado
